This refers to the letters titled ‘A big dam’ (August 23) by Zaheer Ahmed and Sarmad Elahi. Technical experts have explicitly been saying that the Kalabagh dam is the best option in terms of location, timeframe, cost and benefits in terms of water storage capacity and power generation. The experts have been emphatic that there will be no harm to any of the smaller provinces as perceived; in fact they will be the greater beneficiaries of it.
There is no need for any political consensus on this because those opposing its construction are not experts. We need a strong government to go ahead with the Kalabagh project and ignore the opposing voices.
