PTI activists urge leadership to award ticket on merit

PESHAWAR: Village councillors and nazims belonging to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) from Pajaggi Union Council in PK-8 constituency have threatened to quit the party if ticket for contesting by-poll on district council seat was not awarded on merit.

Speaking at a press conference here on Sunday, Muhammad Saeed advocate along with his supporters said that the PTI ticket for the district council in Pajaggi had been awarded to one Daud Afridi, who had contested the last local government election as an independent candidate against the nominee of the PTI.

He accused the PTI committee comprising of provincial Minister for Public Health Engineering Shah Farman, MPA Mehmood Jan and District Nazim Arbab Asim of violating merit and awarding ticket to an undeserving person.

He said a group in the party was harming PTI by pushing the old and sincere workers to the wall.Muhammad Saeed said he had been affiliated with PTI since 2005 and applied for party ticket, but it was not awarded to him. “I had honoured the decision of the party leadership and didn’t contest the election in independent capacity,” he maintained.

He asked PTI Chairman Imran Khan to take notice of the issue and awardhim the ticket.He said that 20 to 25 councillors and seven village council nazimsfrom his area would quit PTI if he was not awarded the ticket. Muhammad Saeed said that he might contest the coming election as an independent candidate if the party didn’t award him ticket.
