New CCPO named

PESHAWAR: Mohammad Tahir, a senior officer of the Police Service of Pakistan, was appointed Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) as the former head of the force Mubarak Zeb left for senior management course.

Also, Mohammad Ijaz, who recently arrived from abroad, has been appointed Regional Police Officer, Mardan, replacing Tahir.  Mohammad Tahir is a senior officer of the 2th Common Training Programme of the PSP. Before Mardan, he was heading the Bannu Range as RPO.  Tahir has also served as senior superintendent of police operation, SP Cantt in Peshawar and ASP in Peshawar.

The inspector general of police was considering a few senior officers for the CCPOpost in Peshawar, which faces challenges like target killings, extortionists, hardened criminals, land mafia and local militant networks emerging in some pockets of the city.
