UET approves appointments
LAHORE
University of Engineering and Technology (UET) syndicate on the recommendations of the selection board has approved the appointments of Zulfiqar Ali as Deputy Registrar (BS-18), Hashim Ali, Munir Ahmad and Abdul Hameed as Assistant Registrars (BS-17), Amjad Hussain Amjad and Talib Hussain as Administrative Officers (BS-17), said a press release issued on Monday.
training: A five-day “In-service short-term training of university faculty” started at the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) here on Monday.
The training was organised by the UVAS Centre for Educational Policy and Administration (CEPA) in collaboration with Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC). Vice-Chancellor Prof Talat Naseer Pasha chaired the inaugural session of the workshop while Dean Faculty of Life Sciences Business Management Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad, Dean Faculty of Bio Sciences Prof Dr Habib-ur-Rehman and a large number of faculty members of were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Pasha urged the teachers to be real role models for their students through their conduct. He asked them to become authority in their respective subjects. Earlier Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad, who is also president of (CEPA), spoke about various aspects of teaching and how to improve teaching techniques.
Emergency service: Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) Director General Brig (R) Dr Arshad Zia while presiding over a meeting of Rescue officers at Rescue 1122 Headquarters, carried out a performance review of emergency operations in all districts of Punjab to ensure uniform standard of the service & smooth emergency services delivery without any discrimination.
According to a press release, the emergency data showed that 64,071 victims of different emergencies were rescued by Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) while conducting 59,749 rescue operations in July all over the Punjab, with average response time of seven minutes.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Director (HR&A) Dr Foaad Shahzad Mirza, DD (P&D) Faheem Qureshi, DD (Finance) Naeem Mukhtar, Deputy Director (Operations) Ayyaz Aslam, Deputy Director (R&M) Irfan Naseer, Head of Public Information Wing Deeba Shahnaz Akhter and other senior officers.
The emergency calls to which Rescue 1122 responded to include: 21,808 road traffic accidents, 27,604 medical emergencies, 866 fire incidents, 2,109 crimes, 181 drowning incidents, 86 building collapses, 12 explosions and 7,083 miscellaneous operations. According to the statistics, out of total fire incidents majority fire incidents occurred in major cities which include 258 fire in Lahore, 85 in Faisalabad, 70 in Rawalpindi, 54 in Multan, 23 in Sialkot and 24 in Sargodha.
