With a focus on implementation of lessons learnt during the event, the six-day Young Leaders Conference, 2016, came to a close on Sunday.

Themed ‘Destination – Enterprise Action’, the last day of the conference was conducted by YLC, 2016 Day-Champ Waqar Ali.

It started with the session on ‘Social Action Projects’, an essential and integral part of the conference each year in which all 300 participants were required to plan, design and execute a project aimed at improving an aspect of the society around them that they feel most strongly about.

The projects were to be completed within six months of the end of the conference in order to help them carry home constructive and measurable goals and inspire them to initiate change, ensuring that what they had learnt at the conference was translated into action.

Upon completion of the project, the participants are required to submit their reports, in order to receive their certificates.

The participants were moved by Qaiser Abbas’ session ‘Shabaash! Tum Karsakte Ho!’ wherein he enlightened the audience about his journey of success. The session ‘Theory of Change’ with Umair Jaliawala was centered on what change meant how it was inevitable, and how to initiate it at any level.  The participants were then given practical examples of YLC participants who had done brilliant work in their chosen fields and were recognized as the ‘Jewels of YLC’.

The fourth day of the conference themed ‘patrol-state power’ focused on the dire need for political reforms, in the country.

The day began early with Uzair Ausaf’s session on ‘Role of the state in policy-making and how civil society can influence it’, besides it also featured an informative session conducted by learned trainers of School of Leadership (SoL).

The next event of YLC would return in 2017 with fresh knowledge to enrich the lives of more youngsters. The enlightening forum was a pioneering effort of the ‘School of Leadership’ (SoL) to provide confidence and exposure to 300 participants, from diverse backgrounds, each year and young residents of over 127 cities, towns, districts, and villages.

The conference brings them together on one platform, to learn from experts, speakers, educationists, scholars, trainers, celebrities, corporate heads, activists and other accomplished personalities.

In 2016, YLC celebrated its 15 years of continued success in working for youth development. It pursues insightful themes like development, economics, politics, environment, culture, corporate, self-awareness and capacity building.

SoL is supported by its founding partner English Biscuit Manufacturers Pvt Ltd (EBM) – an organisation with a long established history of working with passion for the cause of youth empowerment.

Each year, the conference opens its doors to 300 youngsters between the ages of 18-24 from all over Pakistan.
