MULTAN: Police on Friday visited the house of Mufti Abdul Qavi after he did not appear before them in the Qandeel Baloch murder case and gave him a six-point questionnaire.

According to the police, they had accessed the mobile phone data of Mufti Abdul Qavi, which showed that the last contact between him and Qandeel Baloch took place on June 22.

Talking to newsmen shortly after receiving the questionnaire, Mufti Abdul Qavi said that he would provide his written response after consulting his lawyer. “I will also issue a copy of my response to the media.”

He said that whichever institution would contact him for investigation in the murder case, he would cooperate with it. He said that he met Qandeel only once. Referring to the day Qandeel Baloch met him and took selfies with him, he said: “I asked her in a hotel that people will bother us, let’s walk separately.” Qavi added that he was in Lahore when Qandeel was murdered. Mufti Abdul Qavi said that no deadline had been given to him to submit the reply.

Mufti Abdul Qavi provided a copy of the questionnaire to this scribe. The questionnaire sought complete introduction from Mufti Qavi and his family background, his education and public offices, which he had enjoyed in the past. The questionnaire sought answers on books written by him. The questionnaire also sought the details of his domestic as well as foreign tours.

The questionnaire sought detailed response from him on his meeting with Qadeel Baloch and his contacts with her family members, besides his relations with the Syed family of Shah Sadar Din and his pupils and followers in the area.
