LAHORE

A fourth year student of Kinnaird College was found dead in mysterious circumstances in a four star hotel on The Mall on Friday.

The girl, identified as 25-year-old Rabia Nasreen, daughter of Ghulam Nabi of Batapur Colony, was found dead with a bullet into her head in a bathroom of the hotel with a pistol lying near her body. The deceased was the only sister of four brothers. She had served as captain of her college cricket team, and was enrolled in coaching courses. Police have begun an investigation into the incident and got the CCTV footage to determine when the girl arrived at the hotel. The Racecourse SHO said she had arrived at the hotel in a rickshaw at 11:53am and managed to sneak a pistol past hotel security along with a bag containing two magazines with more than a dozen bullets apiece. The SHO was of the opinion that carrying the gun into the hotel was a serious security lapse, and that great skill was required to smuggle it in. Police said the girl went straight to the common bathroom where two shots were fired, the first missing its target and the second entering her right temple and exiting from the other end.  The circumstantial evidences and CCTV footage implied that the death was a suicide.
