Man dies of suspected drug overdose

LAHORE

A 35-year-old man died of a suspected drug overdose in the Bhatti Gate police jurisdiction on Wednesday.

A resident of China Scheme, Gujjarpura, Tanveer was found lying in his neighbourhood by area locals who informed the relevant authorities. He was shifted to hospital where he was declared dead. Police suspected that Tanveer might have died of excessive use of drugs. The family of the deceased refused an autopsy, and body was handed over to Tanveer’s family.

Body found: The body of a tortured 18-year-old was found in the Batapur police jurisdiction on Wednesday.

The deceased, yet to be identified, was found near Khairpur, Batapur bearing visible signs of torture on body. Police suspected that the youth was killed elsewhere and the body was later deliberately dumped in the Batapur area. Police shifted the body to morgue. 

Accidents: Total 615 road traffic accidents were reported in Provincial Monitoring Cell of Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) in all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours; in which 10 lives were lost and 521 serious injured were shifted to different hospitals of relevant districts.

fire: Eight persons, including women and children, received injuries in fire related accidents in the City on Wednesday.

The first incident occurred when a transformer exploded near Mehmood Booti Road, Peer Darbar, Daroghawala and its oil fell on three persons who were later identified as Kashif, 11, Sharafat, 24, and Maqsood, 35. The injured persons were shifted to hospital for treatment.

The second fire incident occurred on Bund Road in Shafiqabad, where a small scale shoe factory was operating in a residential area. The factory caught fire due to a burning cigarette, resulting in three people, including residents of the area burnt.

wheelie-doers: CTO has said that traffic police is implementing strict measures against wheelie-doers and is continuing its informative campaign against its dangers to improve road safety.

In a meeting held at CTO office on Wednesday, the CTO directed all SPs and DSPs to keep an eye on wheelie-doers while patrolling. He also stressed the importance of wardens being well-informed and asked all sector in charges to brief wardens everyday.
