Athletics events planned to celebrate Independence Day
KARACHI: Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP) has planned to organise marathons and road races throughout the country in August to celebrate the Independence Day.
“These road races and marathons will be organised at provincial and district levels,” AFP secretary Muhammad Zafar said.
“Competitions will also be organised at club level in major towns and villages. A marathon race has already been finalised by the Sports Department of Government of Balochistan in collaboration with Army and Balochistan Athletics Association (BAA). The race will be held on August 6, starting from Airport Chowk and ending at Football Ground, Ayub Stadium in Quetta,” Zafar added.
He said that the race offers Rs300,000 to the winner, Rs200,000 to the runner-up, and Rs100,000 for the third position. Those finishing fourth to tenth will get Rs25,000 each.
