LAHORE
Punjab University (PU) chapter Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT) has expressed concerns over discontinuation of three-year LLB programme and demanded the university increase the first year seats of the five-year LLB programme from 100 to 300.
However, a PU Law College official said the university was following the PBC policy and could not increase the number of seats from 100 to 300 in the first year of the five-year LLB programme. Earlier this year the Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) had promulgated the Pakistan Bar Council Legal Education Rules 2015, asking the universities across the country that the duration of the LLB course would not be less than fve years while no further admission to three years LLB programme would be given by any university/law college. The present three-year LLB programme will be discontinued after three years of the enforcement of these rules.
