Loadshedding increases in Lahore
LAHORE: Unannounced loadshedding has increased manifold in the provincial metropolis, thanks to mismanagement by power managers. The loadshedding in the city has crippled routine life and people even have been deprived of their sleep due to long blackouts. Apart from long outages in the day, many night hours are without power supply, said Basit Hussain, who resides near Feorzpur Road. According to sources, National Power Control Center started using so called power management under a centralized mechanism, depriving several grid stations of the city of power supply for hours. Sources said that demand of the electricity in the country surpassed 21,000 MW, showing a deficit of over 6,000 MW. When contacted, the management of Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) was not available for the comment.
