LAHORE: Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez has asked the Pakistan Cricket Board for more time to recover from his knee injury before appearing for a biomechanics test for his bowling action.
After serving a one-year ban for illegal action, Hafeez was to appear for a biomechanics test within a fortnight. But when the PCB talked to Hafeez about this, he said he was still feeling slight pain in his knee when bowling and so he was unable to work on his action.
He further said that he would only be able to appear for the biomechanics test after fully recovering from injury.
Hafeez was banned for illegal action by the ICC in July 2016.
His action was reported by the on-field umpires during Pakistan’s tour of Sri Lanka in 2015.
Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq has said Pakistan would receive a huge boost if Hafeez returned to the role of an all-rounder. Hafeez has been playing as an opener since receiving the ban.
