‘Humanitarian services help combat poverty’

Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal is leading social safety net which is combating poverty by extending help and financial assistance to needy and vulnerable in society.

Speaking at the 30th Installation ceremony of Rotary Club of Islamabad (Metropolitan), Managing Director Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal Barrister Abid Waheed Sheikh said this would ultimately help check poverty in the society.

He also invited Rotarians to join hands with them in this endeavour.   He appreciated the humanitarian services rendered by Rotary club and its members.

Barrister Adil Jamal took over as Club President for the year 2016-17 from out-going President Sadaf Raza.

District Governor Elect Faiza Qamar was also present on this occasion. The event marks start of the new Rotary Year for which the theme is “Rotary Serving Humanity”.

 The ceremony was attended by a large number of people from all walks of life including district leaders, club members, friends and family of Rotarians. Outgoing president Sadaf Raza appreciated the combined efforts of club members in achieving multiple milestones during the year.

She particularly highlighted how the members had come together to raise substantial funds in just one week for flood affectees in Chitral, Dir and Shangla last year.   Awards were given to club members in recognition of their contribution to club projects and fund-raising activities. Dr. Hans Frey Award of Excellence was awarded to Fatima Lodhi.
