Edhi remembered

A ‘Mehfil-e-Mushaira’ and condolence reference in remembrance of Abdul Sattar Edhi was held under auspices of Rawalpindi Arts Council.

Renowned social worker and Pakistan Green Task Force Chairman Dr Jamal Nasir was chief guest of the ceremony who called for continuing the legendary philanthropist’s mission of serving humanity. The ‘Mushaira’ was presided over by Munawar Hashmi while Hassan Abbas Raza was guest of honour which was also attended by Naheed Manzoor and Resident Director Waqar Ahmed. The ceremony was anchored by Farzana Naz.

While paying tribute to Edhi, Dr Jamal Nasir emphasised the need to promote his lessons of tolerance, forgiveness and sacrifice.

Naheed Manzoor that said people like Edhi, who devote their entire lives to social work, come once in every century.

Resident Director Waqar Ahmed also eulogised the humanitarian services of the Edhi organisation, and said the philanthropist will forever remain a source of national pride.

The poets who paid homage to great Abdul Sattar Edhi were Munawar Hashmi, Hassan Abbas Raza, Naseem-e-Sahar, Farkhanda Shamin, Tabbassum Ikhlaq, Arif Harhad, Arshad Malik, Farzana Naz, Khurram Kahleeq, Rukhsana Sahar, Wafa Chishti, Farhana Ali, Dr Abrar Umer, Obaid Baghiz,Abdul Qadir Tabban, and Mazhar Shahzad.
