153,478 declared pass in Matric examination

LAHORE

Minister for Schools Education Rana Mashhood formally announced the result for the Secondary School (Annual) Examination, 2016 on Wednesday in a ceremony held at Alhamra. 

Prizes, cash awards and merit certificates were distributed among the position holder students. Lahore BISE Chairman Dr Muhammad Nasrullah Virk welcomed the guests and announced the results. 

According to results, 214,711 candidates appeared in the SSC (Annual) Examination, 2016 in which 153,478 candidates declared successful thus the pass percentage remained 71.48pc. As per details, 102,780 out of 131,161 candidates passed in science group, hence the pass percentage remained 78.36pc while the 50,698 out of 83,550 candidates remained successful in Humanities Group and the pass percentage was 60.68. 

Rana Mashhood distributed medals, cash awards and merit certificates among the position holders. Student of Divisional Public School and Inter College, Model Town, Lahore, Rana Omer Farman, son of Rana Farman Ali Sabir, secured 1,087 marks and got overall top position in Lahore board. Muhammad Shayan Waheed, son of Waheed Naz of DPS, Model Town, Lahore got over all second position by securing 1,086 marks and Syed Momin Ali, son of Syed Javaid Shoukat, and Hussnain Mushtaq, son of Mushtaq Ahmed Ch Students of DPS, Model Town, secured 1,085 marks and stood overall third.

The above noted students also got 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions in science group among boys. In the category of science group among girls Semil Saleem, daughter of Muhammad Saleem, a student of Punjab Girls High School, Johar Town, got 1st position by securing 1,083 marks, Rimsha Tahir, daughter of Ghulam Nabi Tahir, DPS Model Town, secured 1,082 marks and got 2nd position and Sajal Tariq, daughter of Muhammad Tariq, Jinnah Grammar Secondary School, Ghulam Hussain Park, Shadbagh secured 1,079 marks and stood third. 

In the Humanities Group among Boys, Sabir Ali, son of Muhammad Tufail, student of Pakistan Model High School, Kasur got 1st position by securing 1,034 marks, Muhammad Shahzad, son of Muhammad Iqbal, Allied School, Al-Miraj Campus for Boys, Shadman, obtained 2nd position by securing 1,006 marks and Muhammad Usman, son of Khalid Zahoor, Allam Iqbal Public High School, Kasur and Allah Ditta, son of Muhammad Aslam, Govt Public High School Nain Sukh, Lahore stood third by securing 994 marks.

In the Humanities Group among girls, Iqra, daughter of Muhammad Yaseen, student of Allam Iqbal High School for Girls, Kasur got 1st position by securing 1,067 marks, Ayesha Khalid, daughter of Khalid Mahmood, a student of Society Public Girls High School, Mughalpura, obtained 2nd position by securing 1,055 marks and Areej Waseem, daughter of Waseem Zafar, Farooqi Girls High School Karim Park, Lahore got 2nd position with 1,055 marks and Uzma Waris, daughter of Waris Masih, (Private Student) of Lahore stood third by securing 1,045 marks. 

1st, 2nd and 3rd position holders were awarded with gold, silver and browns medals along with Rs 20,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000, respectively. Merit certificates were also awarded to the position holders by the chief guest. Overall topper Rana Omar Farhan obtained 1,087 marks under Roll No 203528, a student of Divisional Public School and Inter College, Model Town, Lahore was also awarded with a laptop.

Rana Mashhood appreciated the working of the Lahore board on account of declaring the RL free results and congratulated the chairman and his team.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has congratulated position holders in matriculation examination of all educational boards of the province.

He said the achievement of these students is a source of pride for their parents and teachers. He said some of these students despite their meager resources have won top positions through their hard work and commitment which is appreciable. The CM congratulated parents and teachers of position holder boy and girl students. He said talented and hard working students are an asset and guarantee to a bright future of Pakistan. Punjab government will continue to utilise resources on such students, he added. The CM said these students are capable to change the course of history. He said education is the key to progress and the Punjab government is implementing a comprehensive programme for the promotion of education in the province.
