PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Members of the provincial assembly Yasin Khalil, Fazle Elahi, Mehmood Jan Khan, Arbab Jehandad and Zareen Zia on Saturday condemned the
allegations of former provincial minister for mines
and minerals development
Ziaullah Afridi that he
was arrested by the provincial Ehtesab Commission Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at the behest
of Chief Minister Pervez Khattak.
Yasin Khalil, who once also remained a member of the PTI’s so-called “forward bloc” in the provincial assembly, told a press conference that a corruption-free Khyber Pakhtun-khwa was the motto of the PTI-led provincial government and whoever resorted to corrupt practices would face the music.
Yasin Khalil, who is also the former Peshawar district president of the PTI, said they condemned and rejected every word the former minister uttered against the chief minister.
Lawmakers Fazle Elahi, Arbab Jehandad, Mehmood Jan Khan and female MPA Zareen Zia and a large number of PTI workers led by Younas Zaheer were also present on the occasion.
They had come to show solidarity with Pervez Khattak and condemn the ousted minister Ziaullah Afridi’s bitter accusations against the chief minister.
Speaking on behalf of the PTI lawmakers, Yasin Khalil said Ziaullah Afridi had transferred 14 senior officers of the mines and minerals development department and allowed the mining of laterite and phosphate from mines in Mamakhel, Nowshera and Abbottabad despite a ban on mining in the province.
He said the Ehtesab Commission Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was a fully independent and autonomous body that came into being as result of a provincial assembly act.
