Tax exemption proposed for donations to govt school
Islamabad: Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training Engineer Muhammad Blighur Rehman has proposed tax exemption for donations made to the public sector educational institutions.
In a letter written on Thursday, Muhammad Blighur Rehman appreciated Finance Minister Ishaq Dar for the insertion of Section 64-AB to the Finance Act 2016 saying the deductable allowance for education expenses will bring relief to parents besides promoting the cause of education in the country.
He said donations and financial contributions to the public sector educational institutions should also be exempted from tax.
"The tax exemption will not only encourage the financing of education in the public sector but will also facilitate the respective governments in achieving their goals of bringing improvements in the field of education," he said.
