Administrative, financial misconduct: NAB seeks data about 40 excise, motor registration officials

LAHORE:The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore has initiated a formal inquiry into alleged administrative and financial misconduct involving officers of the Excise and Taxation Department and Motor Registration Authority. The case is linked to a database administrator at the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) and others.

According to an official letter issued by NAB Lahore (Ref No. 1(9)/HQ/2322/IW-III/NAB-L, dated 5 July 2025), the DG of the Excise and Taxation Department has been directed to submit detailed records of 40 serving officials. The request has been made under Section 19 of the National Accountability Ordinance (NAO), 1999.

NAB has sought information covering the period from January 2022 to date. This includes posting history, job descriptions, assigned duties, service records, any departmental complaints (pending or concluded), as well as current postings, addresses, and contact information of the listed individuals.

The DG of the Excise and Taxation Department has been directed to submit data to Assistant Director (Investigation) Waheed Ahmed Ch at the NAB Complex, Thokar Niaz Baig, Lahore. The Bureau has emphasised that departmental cooperation is essential for the progress of the inquiry.
