This refers to the letter 'Cruel proposal' by Dr Najeeb A Khan (June 26, 2025). The writer raised grave concerns over the proposal to limit the family pension period after the death of the life partner to 10 years. The only situation in which this could be somewhat justified is when the widow happens to be in a pensionable employment or is drawing a reasonable amount as her own pension. This proposal sounds even more cruel in the context of hefty salary hikes for some high ranking officers.
