Lawyers urged to help end deprivations of people of KP's merged districts
PESHAWAR: Peshawar High Court senior puisne judge Justice Ijaz Anwar on Saturday urged the lawyers to help alleviate the deprivations of people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's merged districts as they remained deprived of the basic right to justice for several decades."Since the judicial system is relatively new in the merged districts, the local people are still becoming familiar with it.
The number of cases in the merged districts is reasonable and manageable, which places a heavy responsibility on lawyers to help alleviate the deprivations of the people," he remarked while addressing the lawyers, who received a week-long training programme on "Professional Capacity Building" held at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Judicial Academy here.
A total of 30 young lawyers from various merged districts participated.Judicial Academy Director General Jehanzeb Shinwari, Dean of Faculty Ziaur Rehman, Senior Director Administration Dost Muhammad Khan, Senior Director Research & Publications Dr Qazi Attaullah and other directors and officials were present on the occasion.
Justice Ijaz Anwar emphasised that young lawyers must remain committed to hard work and discourage unnecessary litigation as such cases burden the courts.He congratulated the participants on completing the course and highlighted the crucial role of lawyers in society and the justice system. He said that no task was possible without knowledge and hard work, urging lawyers to continuously strive to enhance their professional skills.
He added that such training was important because it enabled young lawyers to perform effectively in the legal field. He expressed hope that the programme would enhance the participants' knowledge, professional competence, behavior, and attitude.Earlier, Director General Jehanzeb Shinwari welcomed the chief guest and thanked him for attending.
He explained that the primary goal of the training program was to equip young lawyers from the merged districts with the necessary skills and knowledge, covering various aspects of the legal profession. On behalf of the participants, Advocate Hidayatullah thanked the Academy for organizing the course and expressed that the training had significantly strengthened their professional abilities.He also expressed hope that the Academy would continue organizing similar programs in the future for young lawyers from the merged districts.At the end of the ceremony, certificates were awarded to the participants
