LAHORE : The National Executive Committee of the Electricity Workers’ Union Friday called on the Prime Minister to lift an eight-year ban on recruitment in the electricity sector.
During a meeting held at Bakhtiar Labour Hall, union leaders highlighted a sharp rise in fatal accidents among line staff, attributing it to severe staff shortages.
The committee also voiced strong opposition to the privatisation of profitable electricity companies. Additionally, it demanded a 20 percent increase in salaries and pensions, and called for the removal of the 10-year limit on family pension benefits.
