170kg unhygienic meat seized; vehicle driver arrested
LAHORE : Motorway Police Central Zone intercepted a shipment of 170 kilograms (4.5 maunds) of hazardous, foul-smelling meat intended for sale in Lahore.
NH&MP officers Eagle-II IP Abid Manzoor and Shafiq stopped a suspicious vehicle BGJ-529. On searching the vehicle, they discovered four packs of meat emitting a strong, foul odor.
The officers detained the vehicle driver and occupants, and took it to the Beat Camp Office, where it was impounded. The seized meat was destined for hotels and restaurants across Lahore. The suspects admitted to transporting the meat to Lahore.
100 suspects held in 451 combing operations
Punjab Police across the province, including Lahore, conducted 451 combing operations during the last 24 hours and checked 18,498 people and detained 100 suspects.
According to Punjab Police spokesperson, the police also arrested 485 proclaimed offenders (POs), 198 court absconders, and 112 habitual criminals and recovered illegal arms from them in view of maintaining peaceful atmosphere during the holy month of Muharram.
Rickshaw driver held for stealing luggage
A rickshaw driver involved in stealing a citizen’s belongings in Jhang was arrested with the assistance of Safe City surveillance cameras. The incident occurred when the citizen accidentally dropped his valuables and the rickshaw driver picked them up and fled the scene.
The affected citizen immediately called the Emergency Helpline 15 and requested assistance from the PSCA. With the help of advanced Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology, the rickshaw was identified and its route was tracked.
Acting on the Safe City’s precise location information, local police apprehended the suspect. The stolen belongings were recovered and returned to the citizen.
