Aftab Sherpao slams G7 support for Israel
PESHAWAR: Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao on Wednesday condemned the G7 nations for backing Israel and warned that any attempts to undermine Iran’s independence and sovereignty could lead to dire consequences for the region and beyond.
In a statement, he criticised the G7’s alignment with Israel, calling it “deeply condemnable” in light of Israel’s continued aggression.“The world has witnessed Israel’s consistent use of force and oppression. Yet, the G7’s pledge to support such actions is both alarming and shameful,” he stated. Sherpao accused Israel of launching unprovoked attacks on Iran’s critical infrastructure, allegedly with the support of its Western allies, and in blatant disregard of the UN Charter and international law.
“The intention behind these attacks was to pressure Iran into submission, but Tehran responded promptly and forcefully,” he said. “Iran’s strong retaliation shattered the hopes of regime change by Israel and its backers.”
The QWP chief added that Iran’s counterattacks not only dented Israel’s image but also exposed the vulnerabilities of its much-touted Iron Dome defense system.“These developments have sent a strong message to those who have been unleashing terror on Palestinians. They now face the same fear and despair they have long inflicted on innocent civilians,” Sherpao remarked. Expressing grave concern over what he termed the “genocide of the Palestinian people,” Sherpao questioned the silence of the international community over Israel’s ongoing military actions. “At this critical and challenging time, our full sympathies go out to the Iranian and Palestinian people,” he added.
