PESHAWAR: A seminar aimed at addressing and preventing harassment against women was held at the Traffic Driving School in Hayatabad, Peshawar.
The event was attended by Chief Traffic Officer Haroon Rasheed Khan, other traffic officials, and Programme Director of Da Hawwa Lur-a non-governmental organization-Shawana Shah, according to a press release.
Women officials of the City Traffic Police also participated in the seminar.Shawana Shah highlighted various incidents of harassment faced by women and outlined the measures being taken to prevent such occurrences.
Chief Traffic Officer Haroon Rasheed Khan appreciated the efforts of the organization and assured full cooperation from the City Traffic Police in providing a safe environment for women.
He noted that the women serving in the department carried out their duties with dignity, which demonstrated that the City Traffic Police, Peshawar, is a safe institution for women.The CTO further stated that the law clearly defines punishments for individuals involved in harassment, including imprisonment and fines.
He emphasized that every individual in Pakhtun society is obligated to refrain from such reprehensible acts and urged victims of harassment to report such incidents without hesitation to the relevant police station or department.
