Historic temple in Lasbela declared world tourism site
Hinglaj Mata Temple is centuries-old spiritual site for Hindu community in Pakistan
QUETTA: The government of Balochistan has decided to declare the historic Hinglaj Mata Temple, located in Lasbela district, as an international tourism site.
The announcement was made on Monday during a meeting between Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti and Senator Dinesh Kumar, where they discussed the promotion of minority tourism in the province.
The Hinglaj Mata Temple is a centuries-old spiritual site for the Hindu community in Pakistan, particularly in Balochistan, attracting hundreds of thousands of pilgrims from across Pakistan and around the world every year. Recognizing its religious, cultural, and tourism significance, the Balochistan government has taken this step to enhance minority religious tourism and to project a positive image of Balochistan internationally.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti said that Balochistan is a land that embraces all nationalities and cultures, and the Hinglaj Mata Temple stands as a symbol of the province’s rich heritage, history, and tolerance.
He emphasized that granting the temple international tourism status is not only a gesture of trust towards minority communities but also a significant effort to showcase Balochistan’s peaceful and inclusive identity to the world.
The chief minister further stated that the provincial government is taking concrete steps to protect and develop the religious and cultural sites of minorities. Special funds for the renovation and infrastructure development of Hinglaj Mata Temple are also being allocated in the upcoming provincial budget.
