Islamabad:In a big breakthrough, Islamabad Police have arrested the prime suspect in the brutal murder of 22-year-old Imaan, a student at the International Islamic University.

The announcement was made by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Islamabad, Muhammad Jawad Tariq, during a press conference held at Rescue 15. He was flanked by senior police officials, including SSP (Investigations), SP (Saddar Zone), and DSP (CIA).

DIG Tariq hailed the development as a major success in solving what was initially considered a blind murder case. The accused, identified as Feroz – a resident of Jhang – had fled and gone into hiding following the fatal incident.

According to police, the suspect forcefully entered the Kainat Girls Hostel with criminal intent and opened fire, resulting in the tragic death of Imaan. In the wake of the incident, specialised police teams were formed under the leadership of SSP (Operations) and SSP (Investigations). The teams utilised a combination of modern surveillance tools and human intelligence to trace the suspect.

Investigators gathered CCTV footage from nearby buildings, analysed Safe City Islamabad camera feeds, and used composite sketches to identify and locate the accused. This meticulous and coordinated effort eventually led to the arrest of Feroz, who, according to police records, has a history of serious crimes – including previous charges of rape and multiple motorcycle thefts.

DIG Tariq confirmed that a case has been registered and that a comprehensive investigation is currently underway. He assured the public that the suspect will be prosecuted with the support of solid evidence, and the police will ensure that justice is served.

"This arrest is a testament to the commitment and capability of Islamabad Police in protecting the citizens and bringing perpetrators of such heinous crimes to justice," said DIG Tariq. The tragic loss of Imaan has sparked widespread outrage and sorrow across the capital, with many demanding swift and exemplary punishment for the accused.
