USEFP breaks new ground with first-ever headquarters in Islamabad
Islamabad:After nearly 75 years of building bridges through education, the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) is finally putting down roots — in concrete. The foundation is on the brink of completing its first purpose-built headquarters, a $12 million project that will soon open its doors in the heart of Islamabad’s education corridor.
Designed by the renowned architectural firm Nayyar Ali Dada & Associates, the new facility is more than just bricks and mortar — it’s a symbol of the deep and enduring educational ties between the United States and Pakistan. With its sleek, modern design and state-of-the-art amenities, the building will house a library, auditorium and standardised testing labs, making it a one-stop hub for students, scholars and Fulbright alumni alike.
US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie A Baker toured the nearly completed structure and met with the team driving the project forward. Her visit came at the 75th anniversary of the Fulbright Programme in Pakistan, one of the largest and most prestigious Fulbright exchanges in the world.
The embassy's representatives said the building represented more than a physical space. According to them, it embodies the spirit of partnership and shared values that have defined the US-Pakistan relationship for generations and will serve as a beacon for the thousands of Pakistani students who dream of studying in the United States.
Centrally located in Islamabad’s H-8 sector — the city’s academic nucleus — the new USEFP headquarters was made possible through a land allotment by the government of Pakistan and financial support from the US government, reflecting a joint investment in what both sides see as one of the most successful areas of bilateral cooperation: education.
For decades, the USEFP has quietly played a powerful role in shaping Pakistan’s intellectual and professional landscape. Since its founding in 1950, the Foundation has sent thousands of Pakistanis to study in American universities and hosted US scholars in Pakistan, promoting mutual understanding through academic exchange.
