Kidnapped five-year-old girl rescued, suspect arrested

The Clifton police rescued a kidnapped five-year-old girl within 72 hours, and arrested the prime suspect: a rickshaw driver believed to be involved in the abduction.

A District South police spokesperson said the incident occurred at Khayaban-e-Shamsheer, DHA Phase V. Investigation was initiated after receiving a complaint from the girl’s mother. The girl, accompanied by her seven-year-old brother, was returning home after having dinner at Badar Commercial Area when the rickshaw driver offered them a ride.

On the way, the suspect gave the boy Rs50 to buy biscuits from a nearby shop. When the boy returned, he found that the rickshaw had sped away with his sister inside. Following the abduction, police swiftly registered a case and began an extensive search using CCTV camera footage, digital tracking tools and intelligence sources. The suspect’s rickshaw was impounded, and two fake press cards were found on his person.

The girl was safely recovered and reunited with her family. The operation was closely supervised and lauded by District South police chief SSP Mahzoor Ali, who awarded the officers with CC-3 commendation certificates in recognition of their professional excellence and dedication. “This case highlights the importance of rapid response, teamwork and the use of modern investigative tools in protecting our most vulnerable citizens,” said SSP Ali. He urged all officers to continue serving with the same commitment. The suspect is in police custody, and is being interrogated to determine if more suspects were involved.
