Two held as FIA cracks down on hawala dealers
In a targeted operation against illegal foreign currency trading, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Sindh’s State Bank Circle (SBC) on Monday arrested two suspects and recovered a significant amount of foreign currency.
According to an FIA Sindh spokesperson, a joint team of FIA and SBC Karachi conducted a raid near KFC in Defence Housing Authority’s Badar Commercial. During the operation, two individuals—Farhan and Ali Raza—were apprehended in possession of foreign currency and mobile phones containing digital evidence related to the illegal sale and purchase of foreign currency.
The suspects were interrogated on the spot and confessed to their involvement in unauthorised foreign exchange transactions. The raid resulted in the recovery of $14,000, Rs100,000, and two mobile phones loaded with incriminating digital data.
