Three candidates selected for Szabul VC post
The only law university in the country -- Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto University of Law (Szabul) -- has paved the way for the appointment of a vice chancellor after two years.
The search committee has selected three candidates for the post of vice chancellor after interviews on Monday, including two female candidates. In the search committee meeting chaired by Chairman Sindh Higher Education Commission Dr Tariq Rafi, 11 candidates were called for interviews, and on the basis of the interviews, the first number was given to Justice Kausar Sultana, the second number to Muhammad Shahid Shafiq and the third number to Dr. Tehreem Farrukh.
The search committee meeting was attended by Sindh High Education Commission Chairman Dr. Tariq Rafi, Sindh HEC Secretary Moin Siddiqui, Boards and Universities Secretary Abbas Baloch, Justice Zia Pervez, Justice Nadeem Akhtar and College Education Secretary Shahab Qamar Ansari.
The search committee had received applications from 24 candidates for Szabul, and after the documents of the candidates were checked, 11 candidates were called for interviews, including Munawar Sultana, Liaquat Ali Abro, Abdul Ghaffar Korai, Badar Jamil Mandro, Professor Dr. Nabi Bakhsh Narejo, Professor Muhammad Tahir, M. Sajjada Shamim Ahmed, Nazir Hussain Phulpoto, Justice Kausar Sultana, Muhammad Shahid Shafiq and Dr. Tehreem Farrukh.
Justice Qazi Khalid was the first vice chancellor of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto University of Law, but due to political differences, he was not given a second term. Even in the second term, he was in first place but was not appointed on the basis that only two candidates were selected and three names are required to send a panel of candidates to the chief minister of Sindh. However, later, despite a panel of two candidates, few candidates were appointed as vice chancellor to some universities of Sindh.
