Sustainable base

During a period of collapsing ecosystems, unpredictable weather patterns and suffocating urban growth, the concept of sustainable living is a fundamental requirement for Pakistan. Our country can no longer afford to view sustainability as something irrelevant to the ordinary citizen. Nevertheless, our cities remain addicted to plastic, our agriculture drowns in chemical dependency, our transport systems still belch out unfiltered carbon and our institutions continue to fail to integrate ecological concerns into national policy.

Sustainable policies and practices are economically sound and socially inclusive. I urge policymakers, civil society, educators and ordinary citizens to help make sustainability a foundation of our economic system and governance.
