Kohat police recover over 400kg drugs in 5 months
PESHAWAR: Special operations have been launched against drug trafficking and over 400 kilograms of drugs, including 41 kilos of ice, recovered by the Kohat police in the last five months, an official said.
“All the sub divisions and police stations have been tasked to go after the drug dealers. During the operations over 400 kilograms of different kinds of narcotics have been recovered,” District Police Officer, Kohat, Dr Zahidullah told The News. He added that awareness was also being created through seminars and other activities among the public regarding harms of ice and other drugs.
Zahidullah added that effective operations were conducted against terrorists, drug dealers and criminals in Kohat during the recent months.Kohat remained more peaceful compared to all the other southern districts during the last many months. The DPO said all the entry and exit points as well as the remote posts have been further strengthened as part of measures for the improved security.
The official informed construction work is underway in police stations and outposts in Kohat, including boundary walls and residential barracks for personnel. He said this would not only improve security but will also provide a better working environment and accommodation facilities to the cops.
“Over 600 proclaimed offenders involved in murder, attempted murder, robbery, dacoity and other crimes were arrested. In operations against illegal weapons, 138 Kalashnikovs, 1240 pistols, 210 guns and 27,030 cartridges were recovered in the last five months,” he added.
According to Zahid Ullah, 265 search operations were conducted to maintain law and order. Also, in a campaign against aerial 388 people were arrested and weapons were recovered from their possession.
