Rawalpindi: Rawalpindi Health Authority has called its daily wagers for hearing of the case related to regularisation of their employment.

The employees have filed a petition in the court seeking permanent employment, to which Lahore High Court has directed the health authority for reconsideration.

Dr. Asif Arab Khan Niazi, Chief Executive Officer of the Rawalpindi Health Authority has said that the court has directed the authority to re-examine the case of daily wage employees in light of relevant laws and regulations, rather than ordering immediate regularisation.

He confirmed APP that the employees have been summoned for a hearing on June 4, after which a decision will be made based on legal provisions.

The daily wage employees of the District Health Authority Rawalpindi had filed a petition in the Lahore High Court, seeking permanent employment.

They argued that, under government rules, employees working on a daily wage basis for more than 89 days should be considered for regularisation.

However, the court instructed the health authority to review the matter in accordance with the law.

On May 22, the court ruled that the authority must reconsider the matter and make a decision while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

On the other side, the workers union has celebrated the court order considering it to be their victory.
