LAHORE : IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwer has chaired an important meeting at the Central Police Office on Saturday to review the progress of schemes under the Annual Development Programme and traffic targets set by the Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

IG Punjab directed the police officers to remain on high alert during Eid-ul-Azha, warning of potential sabotage by hostile elements. Security is to be intensified at borders, entry-exit points, and cattle markets, with strict checking of suspicious persons and vehicles. He said that no banned or unregistered organisations should be allowed to collect hides or donations and instructed officers to obtain surety bonds from individuals involved in long-standing enmities. Elite and QRF teams are to be deployed at sensitive sites. Senior officers attended the meeting in person, while field commanders joined via video link.

Passing out parade

A passing out parade of 995 traffic assistants and 101 PHP constables was held at Police Training College Sihala. DIG Commandant Ashfaq Ahmad Khan congratulated the college administration on the successful completion of training.

He urged the newly trained officers to focus on crime prevention, traffic management, and public protection. Over 100,000 law enforcement personnel have been trained at Sihala to date, with training tailored to real-world policing needs.

Honorary swords and certificates were awarded to outstanding recruits at the ceremony’s conclusion.
