Beyond grades
In today’s fast-paced world, students face a lot of pressure – academic expectations, social challenges and personal struggles. Sadly, mental health is still not given the attention it deserves in many schools. While we focus on grades and exams, we often overlook what is going on in a student’s mind and heart. Mental health is just as important as physical health. When students feel anxious, depressed or overwhelmed, it affects their ability to learn, build relationships and enjoy school. Many children suffer in silence because they don’t have the right support or feel too afraid to speak up.
Schools should create safe and understanding environments where students can talk openly about their feelings. This includes having trained counselors, mental health programmes and regular check-ins. Teaching children how to cope with stress, build self-confidence and handle emotions is as essential as teaching math or science.
