Leave of transport officials cancelled to prevent overcharging by inter-city buses on Eid
To address public complaints regarding excessive inter-city transport fares during Eidul Azha, the Sindh government has cancelled the holidays and leaves of all officers and staff of the provincial transport authority, regional transport authorities, and district transport authorities.
According to the transport department, if field officers failed to respond to public complaints, the public may directly contact the deputy secretary of transport at his mobile number 0346-2522641 to lodge their complaints.
In a statement regarding the issue, Sindh Senior Minister for Information and Transport Sharjeel Inam Memon said that all relevant officers would remain on duty during the Eid holidays to promptly address complaints related to excessive inter-city bus fares. "Millions of people travel during Eid, and it is our responsibility to give importance to their convenience," he said.
He declared that the leaves of the relevant officers and officials had been revoked to make sure that the people should not face any overcharging in transport fares."No one will be allowed to exploit the public’s needs during Eid," he emphasised.
The transport minister warned that strict legal action would be taken against anyone found charging fares above the government-approved rates. He urged the public not to pay more than the officially notified inter-city bus fares and immediately report any fare violations to the authorities.
