FIA, ICMPD discuss cooperation on irregular migration

Islamabad:Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Director General Riffat Mukhtar, recapped the FIA's dedication to fighting transnational organized crime in close partnership with both national and international entities.

The DG FIA, speaking to a delegation from the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) visited the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Headquarters, said during discuss ongoing and future collaboration in combating irregular migration and cyber-enabled human trafficking.

The meeting, led by Fawad Haider, Head of Office – Pakistan for ICMPD, involved discussions with Director General FIA, Riffat Mukhtar, focusing on strengthening institutional mechanisms and public awareness campaigns.

During the meeting, both the FIA and ICMPD highlighted the critical need to enhance coordination between agencies and bolster institutional frameworks to tackle the growing challenges of trafficking in persons and the smuggling of migrants. DG FIA, Riffat Mukhtar, acknowledged ICMPD’s continuous technical assistance through various projects aimed at fostering safe, legal, and rights-based migration. He also reiterated the FIA's dedication to fighting transnational organized crime in close partnership with both national and international entities.

The discussions concluded with a mutual agreement to deepen their collaborative efforts and explore new ways to combat transnational organized crimes. This partnership aims to address the evolving complexities of irregular migration and human trafficking through enhanced inter-agency cooperation and capacity-building initiatives.
