Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Information Minister Muhammad Mazhar Saeed while addressing a press conference at the Karachi Press Club on Thursday said that after the Pahalgam incident, the Modi government registered an FIR within just 10 minutes and blamed Pakistan for the incident, even though it was a false flag operation.
"Pahalgam is 250 kilometres away from us [Azad Kashmir]. There is a police checkpoint and a military unit near the site of the incident, so where was the Indian army during such a major event?" asked the AJK information minister.
He said that following the Pahalgam incident, Modi attacked Kashmir by falsely accusing Pakistan to cover-up his own failure, resulting in the martyrdom of 32 Kashmiris, including children, women and elderly persons. A 40-day-old baby and an 80-year-old man were killed by India, Saeed explained.
He said that Modi was obsessed with war and he claimed that over 100 terrorists had been killed, although none of the 32 martyrs in Azad Kashmir were terrorists.
The AJK minister remarked that the Pakistani military exercised great restraint, but Modi’s war hysteria led to continuous attacks on the Kashmiri people. "In response, the Pakistan Air Force, Army and Navy gave a strong reply, proving that we are a peace-loving nation, but if war is imposed on us, we know how to defend our country," said Saeed.
He said the Pakistani fighter pilots shot down India’s Rafale and other aircraft, which left Modi shaken and disoriented. The entire Pakistani nation united like a wall of steel. "Our brave armed forces declared their solidarity with Kashmir, stating that they have fought wars before and will continue to do so. In 2019 and earlier, Kashmiri martyrs were wrapped in the Pakistani flag," he said.
After every false flag operation or similar incident, Kashmir and other areas of Pakistan were always targeted, he recalled. “But this is 2025—these dramas won’t work anymore. Modi is psychologically ill. The response from the Pakistan military has rattled him,” he said. The AJK minister said Modi was the murderer of innocent people and was known as the butcher of Gujarat. “When Modi received a response during the Operation Bunyanum Marsus, he became distraught. We say to Modi that if you dare again to attack Pakistan, the response will be even harsher."
Saeed said the people of Azad Kashmir wanted to send a message to Modi that their defence was in the strong hands of the Pakistan Army, and the Kashmiri people stood with their army. “I thank Pakistan’s Army Chief General Asim Munir, the armed forces and the people, who fought for Kashmir and gave a fitting response to Modi,” he added.
Pakistani media and social media users exposed the false news being aired on Indian channels and informed the public of the truth, the AJK minister said, adding that the Pakistan Army was not an occupier in Kashmir, but its protector, whereas the Indian Army was the occupier in the Occupied Kashmir.
"Despite the attacks on Kashmiri areas, a large number of tourists still came to Kashmir. We attended the funerals of the martyrs and provided financial assistance. The administration has been directed to assess the damages [due to Indian attacks], after which the cabinet will decide on compensation," he said.
Explaining his purpose of addressing the press conference in Karachi, Saeed said Karachi was the hub of journalism, and the people of Karachi had a special love for the people of Kashmir, which they demonstrated through their support after the Kashmir earthquake. “We are grateful to the people of Karachi," he said. He also recalled false reports propagated by the Indian media claiming that the Karachi Port had been destroyed.
