Rawalpindi:Focal Person for the Prime Minister’s Youth Program (PMYP) in Punjab Fahad Shahbaz made a special visit to Rawalpindi Medical University (RMU) on Thursday to engage with students and highlight the government’s latest initiatives in line with the vision of Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif.
The visit underscored the government’s commitment to nurturing the potential of Pakistan’s youth and preparing them to meet the challenges of the modern world through strategic support, digital innovation and career development initiatives. Vice Chancellor of Rawalpindi Medical University Professor Dr. Muhammad Umar, senior faculty members and a large gathering of enthusiastic students welcomed Fahad Shahbaz warmly. The occasion was marked by an air of optimism and hope, as the youth of RMU listened attentively to the outline of programs specifically designed for their benefit.
In his welcome address, Professor Umar appreciated the government’s initiative to prioritize youth empowerment and described it as a timely and much-needed step in the right direction. He emphasized that RMU aligns it with the national vision of equipping the young generation with the tools necessary to thrive in a competitive global landscape. “The future is in the hands of our youth,” he said, “and it is heartening to see our leadership investing in their capacity building. We at RMU are fully committed to leaving no stone unturned in supporting our students through innovative programs and sustained guidance for lifelong success.”
The Vice Chancellor further remarked that initiatives like the PMYP play a critical role in enabling young people to transform their ambitions into achievements. He expressed pride in RMU’s ongoing projects in energy conservation, environmental protection, and rainwater harvesting, which, he noted, align with national and global sustainability goals. These initiatives, he added, not only empower students academically but also socially and environmentally, molding them into well-rounded contributors to national progress.
Taking the podium, Fahad Shahbaz delivered a passionate and engaging address while reiterated the Prime Minister’s vision of a progressive Pakistan where the youth are seen not just as the future but as active agents of change in the present.
He emphasized that the government of Pakistan is deeply invested in creating avenues for young people to succeed and has introduced a series of initiatives under the PMYP umbrella to provide critical support to students and early-career professionals. Chief among these, he highlighted, is the Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme, which has already enabled thousands of students across Pakistan to access modern educational tools, enhance their research capabilities, and bridge the digital divide that has historically hindered progress in many sectors.
Fahad noted that the world is rapidly moving towards digitalization and that Pakistani youth must be equipped with the knowledge and skills to remain competitive. In this context, he unveiled the Youth’s Digital Hub — a comprehensive online platform that offers a one-stop solution for young Pakistanis to access educational resources, track scholarships suited to their academic interests, explore job opportunities, and learn about government incentive programs.
Designed for mobile accessibility, the Digital Hub is an innovative step towards inclusivity, ensuring that even students from remote or underserved areas have the same opportunities at their fingertips.
He elaborated that the Digital Hub is more than just a website — it is a gateway to empowerment, designed to support every phase of a student’s journey from education to employment. The platform allows students to craft a personalized path towards their careers, aligned with national development priorities and global trends. He encouraged all students to register on the platform and make full use of the tools provided, emphasizing that self-driven exploration and strategic use of resources are key ingredients for long-term success.
