Several suspects held in Kohat operation

KOHAT: The police on Wednesday launched a major search operation in the mountainous region of Lachi after reports about the presence of terrorists in the area and arrested several suspects, police officials said.

During the operation, officials said, several persons believed to be facilitators of terrorists, along with other suspects, were taken into custody.District Police Officer (DPO) Kohat, Dr Zahid, along with SP Operations for the Southern Circle, Sanober Khan, led the search operation. The police also targeted wanted criminals and their facilitators in the region, the officials said, adding, multiple hideouts were raided and several were destroyed during the action.

The officials said that the arrested suspects have been shifted to the Lachi Police Station for further investigation.Regional Police Officer (RPO) Kohat, Abbas Majid Marwat, informed the media that the operation was conducted based on credible intelligence regarding the presence of militants in the area.

He said that the police were committed to maintaining peace and would continue such operations as needed. “We will take all possible measures to maintain peace in the area,” he said and urged the people to inform the police about any suspicious activity in the area.
