Govt urged to restore peace in Tirah valley

BARA: The Awami National Party (ANP) local leaders on Wednesday asked the government to restore peace in Tirah valley of the Khyber district.

Speaking at a press conference here, ANP president Bara Abdul Wahid Afridi expressed concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in the Maidan area in Tirah valley.He urged the government to take concrete steps to ensure lasting peace in Tirah as soon as possible.

“The ANP has rendered great sacrifices for peace and wants law and order maintained in the region,” he added. Abdul Wahid demanded that the DPO Khyber should visit the Tirah valley on an emergency basis along with his DSPs to review the security situation. He maintained that the provincial government was not interested in restoring peace and tranquility in Tirah. He warned to launch a protest drive in the province if peace was not restored in Tirah valley by May 29.
