No energy

Pakistan is facing an energy crisis with shortfall that varies from 5000-7000MW. Due to this, loadshedding has adversely affected individual and social life, and also resulted in closure of a number of industrial units. Pakistan’s power generation is based on fossil fuels (64.12 percent), hydro-electric power (33.30 percent), nuclear plant power (2.5 percent), and renewable sources (0.41 percent). Pakistan needs 6500MW energy to control its current problems.

For this work should be started on hydro-electric plants and large water reservoirs such as Kalabagh dam (3600MW) immediately. Pakistan, at present, produces approximately 0.2 percent of its total energy through coal – compared to the global average of 40 percent electricity production through coal. Pakistan should utilise this source to produce electricity at a cheap rate.
