LAHORE:The district administration has executed a comprehensive and uncompromising operation to eliminate illegal encroachments across the city and removed over 3,000 illegal structures, besides seizing 23 trucks of confiscated materials during the operation.
The large-scale clean-up drive targeted multiple key areas including Shahdara, GT Road, and Baghbanpura, with additional focus on Jail Road, Nisbet Road, and Mall Road. Beyond physical removal of structures, the operation also addressed visual pollution by taking down numerous banners and posters that had cluttered the city's public spaces. Multiple notices and warnings were issued prior to the operation, demonstrating the administration's systematic approach to urban management.
Chief Officer MCL Shahid Abbas emphasised that the action was conducted without discrimination, ensuring a fair and comprehensive approach to reclaiming public spaces. The MCL continues monitoring and operational efforts to keep Lahore free from illegal encroachments.
DC Musa Raza has highlighted that the primary objectives are to enhance the city's aesthetic appeal and ensure wider road access for citizens. Meanwhile, the Lahore District Administration, under the leadership of DC Musa Raza, launched a campaign to combat unwarranted profiteering in the local markets. The administration imposed fines Rs100,000 and registered six separate legal cases against serious market violations.
Assistant Commissioners and Price Control Magistrates are maintaining continuous on-ground surveillance, implementing effective measures to implement official prices. The prices of various vegetables and fruits witness notable changes. Notably, the prices of lady finger and bitter gourd have decreased, while staple vegetables like potatoes, onions, and tomatoes have been stabilised. Prices of bananas, peaches, and mangoes have been reduced, while prices of apples, pomegranates, dried plums, dates, and melons remain stable.

A weekly review meeting of the Lahore Development Programme was convened under the chairmanship of the deputy commissioner to assess ongoing progress and streamline efforts towards realising the developmental vision set forth by CM.
The core focus of the session was to ensure swift execution, maintain high standards of quality, and uphold transparency across all projects falling under the purview of the Lahore Development Programme. He emphasised the critical importance of continuous and stringent monitoring of all ongoing developmental works. He issued clear and firm directives to all contractors involved in the programme, stressing the absolute necessity of completing their assigned tasks within the stipulated timelines. He highlighted that any delays or lapses in execution would not be tolerated, reinforcing the administration's commitment to efficient project delivery.
DC Musa Raza reiterated the administration's unwavering commitment to the strict oversight of all developmental schemes. The deputy commissioner visited Shalimar Tehsil to inspect the cleanliness and sewerage systems in areas of Karol Ghati, UC 164, and Sher Shah Road. He conducted a detailed review of ongoing operations. The administration’s door-to-door waste collection campaign has been a major success, improving the city’s cleanliness. This initiative, managed by the LWMC, ensures regular waste collection from every street and neighbourhood, providing residents with a cleaner environment. The DC instructed the LWMC to further enhance cleanliness measures across the district, while directing the Wasa to maintain high standards in their operations. He issued strict orders to remove all types of encroachments without discrimination, ensuring that public spaces remain accessible and aesthetically pleasing.
