Pakistan’s airspace fully restored for all types of flights: PAA
All airports in country are available for normal flight operations, airport authority spokesperson said
KARACHI/LAHORE: Pakistan’s airspace has been fully restored for all types of flights, a Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) spokesperson said on Saturday.
This development comes after US President Donald Trump announced that India and Pakistan have agreed to a ceasefire after Islamabad’s offensive against New Delhi earlier Saturday.
All airports in the country are available for normal flight operations, the airport authority spokesperson said. He also said that passengers were requested to contact the relevant airline for the latest schedule of their flights.
The restoration of Pakistan’s airspace comes hours after its closure was extended till today (May 11) for all types of flights.
The authority said that the airspace had been previously closed amid tensions between Pakistan and India at the Line of Control (LOC).
Meanwhile, with the lifting of airspace restrictions in Pakistan, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has begun restoring its flight operations. Flight PK-750 from Paris to Islamabad, which was earlier diverted to Quetta in the early hours of the day, departed for Islamabad at 9 pm. Other PIA operations also resumed from 10 pm, with all previously halted or delayed flights now being operated.
Passengers who had returned to their homes or were accommodated in hotels are being contacted and called back to the airport. Aircraft and other equipment, which had been moved to secure locations as a precaution, are now being brought back to operational areas. “We regret the inconvenience caused to passengers due to the suspension of operations, but given the situation, precautionary measures were essential,” said the PIA spokesperson.
Amid escalating tensions with India, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has issued a critical travel advisory, alerting passengers to disruptions in both international and domestic flight operations due to unexpected airspace closures.
The national carrier urged passengers to confirm their flight schedules before heading to the airport. Travelers can verify their flight status by visiting PIA’s official website at www.piac.com.pk or by contacting the airline’s call center at +92 21 111 786 786. “Due to unforeseen circumstances and the closure of airspace, our international and domestic flight operations have been impacted,” the airline said in a statement. PIA has assured passengers of continued updates and appreciated their patience and cooperation during the disruption. Authorities recommend staying informed through official communication channels to avoid inconvenience.
