Efforts stressed to curb spread of genetic disorders
PESHAWAR: Speakers at a function on Thursday called for collective efforts to curb the spread of genetic disorders. They were speaking at a seminar arranged by the Frontier Foundation in connection with World Thalassemia Day — May 8.
Frontier Foundation Chairman Sahibzada Muhammad Haleem, Administrator Dr Fakhar Zaman, representatives from welfare organizations including JZT Islamia College, Nigehbaan Khoon Khyber Medical University, and Blood Heroes ICHS, as well as children affected by thalassemia and their parents attended the event. Sahibzada Haleem, Dr Fakhar Zaman, and other speakers emphasized the importance of awareness and prevention of thalassemia.
He stated that children suffering from thalassemia are a valuable part of our society and deserve special attention.The speaker expressed concern over the alarming rise in the number of thalassemia patients in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa each year.
He stressed the need for collective efforts to raise awareness and prevent the spread of this hereditary disease. “Our mission is to ensure that every child leads a happy and healthy life,” he added.The event concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony alongside thalassemia fighters and an awareness walk to promote understanding of the disease.
