LAHORE: Former president of the SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry Iftikhar Ali Malik on Wednesday strongly condemned the Indian attack, describing it as a grave threat to peace and stability in South Asia.

In a statement issued in response to the attack, he emphasised that such aggressive actions only escalate tensions and endanger millions of lives across the region. He urged the top leadership of both countries to exercise restraint and prioritise dialogue over conflict, reminding all parties that war has never been a solution to disputes. He stressed that South Asia, home to nearly two billion people, cannot afford another conflict, particularly when the region is already grappling with economic challenges and humanitarian issues. Malik called on international organisations, including the UN, to intervene and facilitate immediate diplomatic engagement between the concerned nations.

Highlighting the importance of economic cooperation, Malik noted that peace is essential for the region’s prosperity. He warned that ongoing hostilities would derail efforts towards regional integration and sustainable development.“Dialogue, mutual respect, and economic collaboration are the only viable paths forward,” he said, appealing for wisdom and maturity from the leadership on both sides. He concluded by stressing that stability and peace are in the best interests of the entire South Asian community.
