Councillors protest prolonged power outages
CHARSADDA: The councillors on Sunday held a rally against the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) for carrying out prolonged loadshedding and warned of staging a sit-in outside the Parliament House in Islamabad if the issue was not resolved forthwith.
Led by district naib nazim Haji Masawwir Shah, the councillors staged a protest rally at the Farooq Azam Chowk.Speaking on the occasion, they said that they would lockdown the Pesco offices if the loadshedding issue was not resolved in five days. They said that that the residents of the district were facing more than 20 hours loadshedding every day.
Speaking at a press conference after the protest, the councillors said that they held several meetings with the senior officials of the Pesco for resolving the issue but to no avail. They said that they would launch a protest campaign against the Pesco and would hold the federal government responsible in case of any untoward situation.
