PESHAWAR: In a major development towards peace and stability, residents of various areas in Kurram district voluntarily surrendered heavy weapons on Sunday.
The initiative has seen significant progress in both Lower and Upper Kurram, where locals have handed over a large cache of arms including machine guns, rocket launchers, and mortars.
The voluntary disarmament process has taken place in several villages near Parachinar, including Lalmay, Shingak, Kharlachi and Karakheela. The handover ceremonies were held in the presence of Brigadier Imaduddin of the Pakistan Army’s 73 Brigade, along with a large number of tribal elders and local dignitaries.
