Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Pakistan Amir Engr Hafiz Naeemur Rahman on Saturday called for national unity in the wake of the alleged false flag operation in Indian-occupied Kashmir.
Addressing a press conference at the JI Karachi headquarters, Idara Noor-e-Haq, he demanded that Islamabad mobilise its diplomatic efforts in response to India's illegal and unilateral suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty.
Rahman strongly condemned the United States of America Vice President JD Vance’s recent comments regarding the Pahalgam tragedy, calling them controversial and irresponsible. He urged the federal government to summon the US envoy, noting that the remarks appeared to support the Indian narrative of the incident.
Expressing gratitude to Beijing for its unequivocal support to Pakistan, the JI chief said that India was avoiding an impartial investigation into the incident and instead resorting to deflection.
Turning to domestic issues, he said that the wounds of Balochistan must be addressed, especially the plight of missing persons. He reaffirmed Balochistan’s integral status within Pakistan.
Highlighting Karachi's ongoing civic problems, he criticised the lack of democracy and devolution of powers, blaming them for the city’s suffering. He also called for a fair and transparent mechanism for water distribution across Sindh.
