Three killed in road accidents
At least three people died in Karachi on Saturday due to traffic accidents. Meanwhile, a man died from electrocution. Two bodies were also found in the Bahadurabad and Clifton areas.
A young man riding a motorcycle died after being hit by a truck near the Sahara Petrol Pump on Chakiwara Road No 2 within the limits of the Kalakot police station. His body was shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi.
The deceased was identified as 25-year-old Ayaz. Police said the accident occurred as a result of a collision between his motorcycle and a garbage truck.
Police have arrested the truck driver, Elahi Bux, responsible for the accident and impounded the vehicle. A case has been registered and investigations are under way.
An unidentified person died in a traffic accident in the Mauripur Allah Wali Mosque area of Lyari within the limits of the Kalri police station. The body was shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi.
SHO Saleem Marwat said the deceased man could not be identified and he appeared to be a drug addict who attempted to enter the moving trailer with the intention of stealing but died after getting hit by the tires behind the trailer.
Police have arrested the truck driver responsible and seized the vehicle. A case has been registered. The body of the deceased man was shifted to the Amanta cold storage.
Separately, a person died in a traffic accident near Sir Syed College in the Golimar area. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
Duty Officer Liaquat Awan said the deceased man had been identified as Shabbir, son of Faqir Muhammad. He was crossing the road when a motorcyclist hit him, killing him on the spot.
Police have arrested the motorcyclist, Inamullah, who was responsible for the accident. A case was reported by the police.
Another man, Shafiullah, son of Farhad, 40, died from electrocution near Jamia Masjid Habib, Janjal Goth, in SITE Super Highway Industrial Area.
The body of an unidentified man, who appeared to be in his 60s, was found on a road near Abdullah Shah Ghazi shrine in the Clifton area. Another body of a man was found on a footpath near the Maritime Museum in the Bahadurabad area. Police shifted the unidentified bodies to a morgue.
On Friday, seven people died and another 22 were injured in road accidents that occurred in various parts of Karachi on Friday. Among the victims were two women, who were crushed to death by speeding dumpers and tankers.
On Friday night, a water tanker claimed the life of a woman near the Ganna Mandi, Daewoo bus stand, on the Super Highway. The body of the deceased was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for a postmortem examination by volunteers of a rescue service, where she was identified as 35-year-old Saiqa.
